Should Anchored Putters Be Allowed on the PGA Tour?
With 3 of the last 4 majors won by players using anchored putters, the PGA will decide this offseason whether to allow professionals to continue to use long putters or belly putters going forward. The issue has proved to be quite polarizing, with strong opinions on both sides of the issue. Current PGA anchored putter users include: 2011 PGA Champ Keegan Bradley, 2012 Open runner-up Adam Scott, 2012 US Open Champ Webb Simpson, 2012 Open Champ Ernie Els, top-ten Fedex Cup player Carl Petterson & many more.
Most agree that whatever the PGA decides, amateurs will be able to continue using anchored putters to try and drop strokes off their games, albeit at the expense of constant ribbing from their friends.
